It’s seven in the morning and Doña Carmen, 71, opens her bank app on her phone before making the grocery list. She’s not looking for the amount — she already knows it — she’s looking for the date. Because at her house, the rent gets paid the same day the deposit lands, and in November that day changes.
If you receive Social Security benefits, this is the month to check the calendar carefully: one group of beneficiaries will be paid on Tuesday, November 10 instead of Wednesday the 11th, because of Veterans Day.
November 2026 payment dates
Social Security pays based on the beneficiary’s birth date, on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of each month. In November 2026 the calendar looks like this:

Why one group gets paid a day early
Wednesday, November 11 is Veterans Day, a federal holiday nationwide. Social Security’s rule is clear: when a scheduled payment date falls on a federal holiday, the deposit is made on the previous business day. That’s why the second-Wednesday group is paid on Tuesday the 10th. Payments are never delayed by holidays: they’re moved up.
The other two groups (third and fourth Wednesdays) don’t change: November 18 and 25 are normal business days.
Watch out for SSI: a November “with no payment”
SSI (Supplemental Security Income) beneficiaries receive their November payment on Friday, October 30, because November 1 falls on a Sunday. That means there will be no SSI deposit dated in November. It’s not extra money or a mistake: it’s November’s payment arriving early, under the same weekend-and-holiday rule.
What to do today, in order

- Check that the payment lands on the expected day: log in to your my Social Security account to confirm your payment date and that your direct deposit is active.
- Adjust automatic payments: if you have rent, utilities or your card scheduled for November 11, verify that the funds arrive on the 10th.
- If your payment is late, wait at least three business days before calling the SSA: direct deposits sometimes show up a day apart depending on your bank.
