At Actual USA, we want every guide to be clear, accurate, and easy to verify. This is how we work:
Who Writes and Reviews
Sources
- We use primary, official sources: the IRS, USCIS, SSA, the Department of the Treasury, and state agencies (DMVs and tax departments).
- Each guide links to its sources and shows the last review date.
- Figures that change each year (tax brackets, deductions, fees) are labeled with their year.
Calculators and Simulators
Tax parameters are loaded from official publications and only published after verification. Practice questions cite the official source (for example, the state’s driver manual or USCIS civics questions); incorrect options are written for practice and are not official text.
Review and Corrections
- If you spot an error, write to us from the Contact page with the official source; we correct it and update the review date.
We review guides at least once a year and whenever a law, form, or fee changes.
Independence
Advertising and affiliate links do not influence what we recommend. Ads are identified as such and do not appear inside the tools.
